This grant supports a three-year effort to create a global multi-cultural and multi-dimensional outcomes assessment tool for adult spinal deformity that is sensitive to diverse cultural, linguistic, and regional contexts. Our goal is to create the global standard that captures quality of life and functional outcomes across diverse cultures and ASD populations to:
* Measure outcomes that matter to all patients
* Guide treatment decision-making and research across continents
* Establish a unified, global benchmark for outcomes evaluation
* Promote equity and improved care and improved quality of life for all adult spine deformity patients

With 28 research sites in the U.S. and Canada and over 40 participating surgeons and data scientists, the ISSG is committed to defining and improving the standards by which patients with adult spine deformity are evaluated and treated.
Dr. Shay Bess discusses surgery for adults suffering from scoliosis
Dr. Shay Bess, a member of the EOS Scientific Advisory Board, explains the importance of EOSedge technology for accurate surgical planning and improving patient outcomes
There are many factors that cause spinal deformities and Dr. Shay Bess has been looking into these factors to give patients more specialized treatments. He found that many patients with the same deformity were suffering from the same deficiency. Through this discovery, he has been able to specialize the treatment he gives patients depending on the deformity.
What are the expectations of improvement when patients with Scoliosis are treated correctly?
The National Spine Health Foundation speaks to Dr. Shay Bess: The Importance of Spine Health Research
For World Spine Day, we spoke with Dr. Shay Bess, a faculty member of the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) and one of only four experts appointed to represent the United States on an SRS task force to develop outcome measures for scoliosis surgery.
Dr. Shay Bess offers referring physicians helpful information on evaluation protocols and offers parents education about a pediatric specialist visit regarding scoliosis.
